Estimator

Alabama Heat Exchangers, Inc. is currently seeking to fill the role of Estimator. This individual will be responsible for estimating functions required for successful project execution. This person should have good knowledge of welding and fabrication and be experienced with ASME Pressure Vessel Codes. He or she should be well organized and have good communication skills.

The successful candidate will be accountable for the following: 

General

• Work closely with management, purchasing, design, QC, and shop personnel 
• Learn and apply ASME/NBIC Codes to estimating. 
• Read and apply customer specifications to projects 

Estimating

• Creating material takeoffs 
• Reviewing material takeoffs 
• Creating and submitting inquiries to vendors 
• Estimating required man‐hours for projects 
• Estimating sublet costs for projects 
• Estimating project durations 
• Preparing competitive bids to be submitted to customers 

Key Result Areas ‐ Success with the above‐listed accountabilities depends on the following: 

• Accuracy in estimating with regard to correct material pricing, labor application, and lead time. 
• Efficiency – working to help our team meet client RFQ submission timelines. 

Communication – working closely with other personnel for project success  

Skills & knowledge needed: 

• Good organization & time management skills 
• Good math and computer skills (MS Excel a plus) 
• Knowledge of welding and welding processes 
• Knowledge of ASME Codes & Standards 
• Knowledge of metallurgy and consumables 

All hired candidates must be willing to work in house and on customer job sites at odd hours as we provide 24-hr emergency repair service. 

All candidates must be drug-free and will be required to undergo a criminal background check.
